How We Help
Open Door's exists to strengthen the church to be the church in the most hostile places.
In around 45 countries, Open Doors is supplying Bibles, training church leaders, delivering Scripture-based literacy programmes and supporting Christians who suffer for their faith. In the UK and Ireland Open Doors strives to raises awareness of global persecution, mobilising prayer, support and action among Christians.
- Bible & Literature Distribution
Distributing Bibles and Christian literature is at the heart of Open Doors ministry. Our ministry focuses on overcoming the barriers that prevent people receiving God's Word. In 2006 Open Doors was able to deliver 6.9 million Bibles, children's Bibles and other Christian literature into the hands of persecuted believers.
- Leadership Training and Assistance
Over the last 50 years, Open Doors has learned that training and encouraging pastors and church leaders is the most effective way to support strong, healthy local churches, especially among those facing persecution. Open Doors offers training in literacy, theology, church leadership and discipleship for persecuted believers.
- Christian Community Development
In order for God's people to remain as a light in the darkness of persecution, individual Christians must be able to live and work in these environments. We help strengthen Christian communities so that they can continue to share the love of Christ and bring the gospel to their neighbors.
- Prayer and Encouragement
Open Doors exists to build fruitful relationships: coming alongside the families of those who have been imprisoned or killed because of their faith; sending small groups to encourage and pray with those who suffer; prompting the Church in the UK to pray, to write letters and to sign petitions.
- Advocacy
Our Advocacy programme enables ordinary Christians to seek justice for the oppressed by influencing those in positions of political power.
