Our Values

Statement of Faith

Open Doors is an evangelical Christian ministry

Our Trinitarian faith is enshrined and expressed in the historic creeds of the church:

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit;
born of the Virgin Mary;
suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell,
the third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
from where He will come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit;
the holy Christian Church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting.

Working Values

VALUES STATEMENTS We believe that a wholesome, dynamic and loving community is the cornerstone upon which our vision – of a world where every persecuted Christian is supported and prayed for by other Christians - can become a reality. We seek to develop an environment in which people can flourish as they serve God and each other, a place where they will grow in their skills and gifting, and where their potential is realised.

PASSION We are passionate about communicating the needs, hopes and distinctives of the persecuted church. We believe that the persecuted church is precious to God, and as a result they deserve our passionate best and our unreserved commitment.

INSPIRATION We believe inspiration is essential to our work, and as a result we seek both to be inspired and to be a source of inspiration as we serve and support the persecuted church worldwide.

TEAMWORK We believe that by working together we can achieve more. Through teamwork we seek to release and empower staff, volunteers and supporters to work together alongside the wider Open Doors community, using their unique skills and gifts and valuing each contribution, in order to achieve our purposes.

RESPECT We will work together in mutually supportive relationships, recognising the equal value of each person and their contribution to our work and life at Open Doors.

INTEGRITY We seek, before God and each other, to infuse our work with integrity, treating each other justly and fairly, and demonstrating consistency between our actions.

TRUTH We are committed to truth and honesty, worked out in transparent God-centered relationships, open financial accountability and honest stewardship of the resources entrusted to us.

EXCELLENCE We are committed to being the best we can be. We work to ensure that in all our relationships, activity and output, we demonstrate the quality that we believe our supporters and colleagues deserve.
