Marathons and 10k in the UK

Whether you are an experienced runner or complete novice, how about 'Running for their lives' that of your persecuted family?

Many of us want to get fitter and stronger, but how about achieving that whilst also helping to support Christians facing persecution.

Success in the London Marathon

Huge congratulations to Dawn Gillett and Trevor Patterson who both completed the London marathon in support of the persecuted church. Dawn raised £2960.00 and Trevor raised £2360.00 - an excellent effort from both of them!

Thank you to everyone who prayed for and supported them.

If their efforts have inspired you to take on a marathon or other distance run, please get in touch with us.

GREAT NEWHAM LONDON RUN 2 JULY

This year a team of five Open Doors supporters and staff will get the chance to have their very own Olympic moment as they take on a 10k race around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The course will take in the sights of Lee Valley VeloPark, the London Aquatics Centre and the Copper Box Arena before crossing that famous finishing line inside the Olympic Stadium.

Our staff members have been spotted running around the block at lunchtimes and are apparently looking forward with a mixture of trepidation and excitement to crossing the same finishing line that legends Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah crossed in 2012. They’re under no illusions that world records will be broken this time, but are no less dedicated in running for a cause they believe in.

It's not too late for you to join them! Please contact us for more details if you would like to join in the fun and raise support for Open Doors.

10 k's

It may be that the marathon is a bit too far for you, so how about a 10k? You could take part as a church team. A spiritual family running for others in their spiritual family. There are many of these events organised up and down the UK. If you would like us to help you locate one near you, please get in touch.

"Training for a marathon seems a small thing compared to what these people are suffering. I will be wearing a running shirt which says on the back 'Run for their lives'. I plan to remember this when I think the training/running the marathon feels tough."
