The race day is part of the trip and the trip is part of the race day. It is not just a physical event, it is the whole experience...so no, you can't just do one bit and not the other.
Not really. Muskathlon is about challenge and adventure so the physical aspect is integral to the concept. It's also good to get fit so we want to encourage people to join in. However, these are not competitive events so people can participate in their own way and at their own pace.
The concept of a Muskathlon is to embrace some of the culture and need of the people we are trying to help. You will meet persecuted Christians, spend time with them and hear their stories. Therefore, it is appropriate to spend some time in their environment. With the Muskathlon taking a whole day and other days for travel and rest, we quickly use the 5-7 days that are allocated for each event. However, be assured we do not waste time and we appreciate the impact of every day away from home and work.
We look after our Muskathletes (you!) as much as possible. So we find hotels/hostels with clean beds, good food and all necessary sanitary and safety requirements. We want you to enjoy and embrace the different cultures, but we also recognise that you may be used to a very different lifestyle than many of the people you will meet, so we don't mind you enjoying some of the comforts you are used to. You will need to let us know if you do not want to share a room.
Yes, please do. We would encourage people to use the bike they have been training on. Airlines are very relaxed about you carrying 'oversized' items and we will provide appropriate transport at the other end. Make sure you know how to do minor repairs yourself.
The fundraising target is £10,000. In addition, you will need to raise approximately £1,500 to pay for the cost of the trip and your flight.
You will be sent a training plan for your event. If you have not previously attempted a physical challenge on this scale, you should allow 6 months to a year to train, depending on your level of fitness.
