Greenbelt

26 - 29 August 2011

The August bank holiday and end of the summer is celebrated with the Greenbelt Festival. An alternative Christian based music and arts festival. Over 20,000 people flooded into the Cheltenham racecourse on Friday 26th August 2011, set up their tent or campervan and prepared for the opening act on the main stage. Greenbelt celebrates all forms of Art: literature, comedy, theatre, worship, film and seminars, featuring: Billy Bragg, Duke Special, Rob Bell, Milton Jones and Adrian Plass. Open Doors were represented in the G-Source marquee with a stand hosted by 6 volunteers. Alongside other Christian organisations of various denominations and purposes, we presented the International Day of Prayer pack.

We had great conversations with people who are interested in starting a journey with the persecuted church.

New Wine (LSE, CSW + NE)

23 July - 6 August 2011

At all three weeks of the New Wine conference, Open Doors were featured on the main stage as part of the financial appeal. The focus was on Operation Rainbow, to aid the victims of the Pakistan flood last year. Altogether, over £180,000 was raised to benefit our Christian brothers and sisters who were denied aid because of their faith. Eddie Lyle hosted a seminar at all three weeks about the persecuted church and how to respond. As well as over 200 people taking a Prayer pack back to their churches

Newark (NE) 30 July – 5 August

New Wine NewarkFor 2011, the Open Doors cafe at Newark moved in to the air conditioned EmPower venue. This was enjoyed by all who joined us for a range of seminars and the evening entertainment, featuring Pete James and Adrian Plass. Open Doors also hosted The Sanctuary, which featured 8 prayer stations based around the Secret Children prayer campaign.
A big thank you to all our volunteers especially the team leaders who motivated the team.

Clan Gathering

23 - 30 July 2011

World Cup Party2011 saw Clan Gathering move back to the Strathtyrum Estate campsite in beautiful St. Andrews. With the move, Open Doors moved sponsorship to the main catering tent; this was a great opportunity to serve delegates with a hot meal, alongside a catering company. During the week, the heaven’s opened in more ways than one. Everyone persevered through mud to get to seminars, the main tent and the cafes, with a smile on their faces, until the sun came out on day 4. As God filled the campsite, the conversations about the persecuted church continued with many people choosing to take the Prayer pack back to their churches.

Big Church Day Out

28 + 29 May 2011

Open Doors partnered with UCB at the BigChurchDayOut to provide a Tea Tent with a range of refreshments. 2011 saw the event provide a two day camping incentive with most people staying for concentrated celebrations on Saturday and Sunday at Wiston house in Sussex. The wind didn’t discourage the excitement as people enjoyed their afternoon cream tea scones made fresh on site. We had an enjoyable 2 days listening to the tranquil music and serving all the wonderful guests of the Tea Tent. A massive 280 people responded to the call of the persecuted church and were inspired to find out more information about their brothers and sisters around who share our faith but not our freedom. .

A big thank you to all the incredible volunteers who made the Tea Tent the incredible success that it was.
