China is a large country with many paradoxes and complex issues. In the 2008 World Watch List it was ranked in the top ten countries where persecution is most severe.
There are Christians who are restricted in their freedom to worship, but there are also areas where the situation is not as tight. In some areas Bibles are can be bought openly, but in other areas they remain scarce. There are reports of house church raids and those involved in evangelism risk arrest. It is against the law to share the Gospel with under 18s.
Although the situation in China differs
per region, it remains difficult for many Christians to practise their faith.
