Seven Days of Prayer for persecuted Indian Christians

Our brothers and sisters in Orissa face challenges and persecution on a daily basis. You can walk with them in prayer using the following prayer requests as a daily prayer guide.

Sunday:  Ask the Lord to keep the church steadfast in faith during these testing times. Pray that Christian leaders will continue to experience the presence of God so that they can continue to lead His people.

Monday: Pray against the spirit of fear that threatens to dominate the minds of Christians in Orissa and across India. Ask the Holy Spirit to enable God's people to speak His word with great boldness.

Tuesday:  Pray that those who have been injured or bereaved by the violence will experience God's healing and the loving touch of His people. Ask God to provide for families who have lost their breadwinners.

Wednesday: Pray for Open Doors and all the other organisations and churches who are reaching out to the victims of the violence. Pray that the rebuilding efforts would have a positive impact on people's lives and that they would sense God's love for them.

Thursday: The area is still very tense. Pray that the government and especially the church will be successful in promoting peace and reconciliation. Pray that Christians will forgive their oppressors and that this would lead to reconciliation and love.

Friday: Pray that the newly elected government in Orissa will do all it can to alleviate the suffering of the Christian community. Pray that the commissions that have been set up to investigate the violence will provide impartial reports so that proper action can be taken.

Saturday: Pray for an outpouring of the Spirit in the state of Orissa, especially in the district of Kandhamal, where people have been most affected by the violence. Pray that many will come to know the Lord as a result of the church's witness.
