The dictatorship is one of the most repressive regimes in Europe. The Eastern Orthodox Church has a privileged position; other denominations are viewed with suspicion. There are numerous attacks on religious buildings and cemeteries but the government makes little response. There was an increase in persecution in 2007: more church meetings were disrupted, Christians were arrested and interrogated, and some foreign missionaries have been deported or been refused a visa.

• Pray for unity among the small evangelical churches.
• Ask God to miraculously intervene in this country and increase believers’ freedom to worship.
