Than Shwe
Population:
48.8 million (9% Christian)

|
Pro-democracy demonstrations led by Buddhist monks were violently quashed by the oppressive military dictatorship in September 2007. Already the target of arrests, Christians did not play a large part in the demonstrations. Many belong to ethnic minorities and live in great fear of the police state. They are discriminated against and face restrictions and persecution, particularly in the provinces outside of the capital city.
Prayer
- Lift up those who have been forced to leave their villages and pray that God will sustain them.
- Pray for an end to the oppression of the people by the authorities, particularly for the ethnic minorities in the Chin, Kachin, Karen and Karenni states.
- Pray that God would reveal Himself miraculously to those in authority.
