Years of fighting have taken their toll on the nation leaving many people displaced. There has not been an effective government controlling the country since 1991. In the absence of a national judicial system, local Shariah courts enforce the law. There is social pressure to respect Islamic tradition, especially in rural areas. Evangelism is frowned upon across the country and in some areas even prohibited. Only a handful of Somalis are Christians, practising their faith in secret.

• Pray for an end to the conflict and for the international community to be able to bring relief from the famine which has gripped the country.
• Pray that believers would receive the training they need to grow as disciples.
• Ask God to open up new ways to reach Somalis with His Word.
