Colombia

Dates for 2012 coming soon

Imagine coffee plantations, lush jungles and vast mountainous regions, towns and villages scattered against a backdrop of hills. At the heart of all of this beauty is a warm, hospitable church that would do anything for Christ!

Off the tourist trail

Colombia has been gripped by violence for over 50 years – rape, kidnapping and murder are all too common. The indigenous population is often caught in the crossfire between left-wing guerrillas, right-wing paramilitaries, government forces and the drug militias.

Visiting Colombia is an adventure, but the only risk you will face is that you will want to stay. You will truly be touched as you share the experiences of believers who have faced persecution and have come out victorious, thanks to the power of God that is evident in their lives.

Itinerary

Your itinerary may include visits to church leaders, local believers, widows, refugee camps, Bible seminaries, Open Doors projects and our Latin America office.

These trips provide opportunities to pray and enjoy fellowship with Christians who need to know that they have not been forgotten. The love these people have for God's church is beautiful and they want to share it with you!

You may be asked to give a word of encouragement to the believers or to share in a church service. You may also minister in the refugee camps, particularly amongst the women, as well as joining in with the children's games and activities. This is a great trip for creative people and anyone who loves children!

"It was a huge privilege, and very humbling, to hear and see people face-to-face telling their stories instead of reading about them in a magazine. Now I feel they are not so far away; they are very much alive in my mind and I can pray for them more easily." - Clare, Traveller 2010
