Church Reps
So many churches across the UK & Ireland are still unaware that Christians are suffering for their faith in Jesus. You can make a difference in 2010 and share the inspirational stories in your own church of where faith costs the most.
Could you tell your church about Christians who share our faith but not our freedom and inspire them to walk with persecuted Christians by praying, giving, volunteering and campaigning? Church Reps play a vital role in the ministry of Open Doors, making sure that our persecuted brothers and sisters are not forgotten but are supported in prayer and action. They take the message of the persecuted church into their own church fellowship and develop a relationship with the persecuted church that will also inspire the church's spiritual growth.
Your part:
- Raise awareness of persecuted Christians and Open Doors' ministry throughout your church. The following are just a few suggestions you could pick from:
- church services
- small groups
- special fundraising events
- notice board
- church magazine articles
- film nights
- youth activities
- invite an Open Doors speaker
- letter-writing
- prayer group
- Hold a Great Big Tea Party (June) in your church or home.
- Involve your church in the International Day of Prayer (November).
- Attend Volunteer days in your region (optional but we do recommend them!).
- Encourage people to receive our monthly magazine.
- Provide opportunities for your church to support Open Doors financially and take part in campaigns.
- Be the main point of contact for your church.
Our part:
- Send regular updates on the latest resources, campaigns and ideas for getting people involved.
- Provide essential training material when you begin and further advice along the way.
- Share volunteer stories through the Volunteer blog.
- Support from your Regional Manager and Sarah in the Witney office.
- Opportunities to meet regionally with other volunteers for encouragement and briefings on up-and-coming initiatives.
- Introduce you to your Area Rep who could speak at your church or small group.
- Provide opportunities for you to give feedback on our resources and communications.
- Opportunities to develop and engage in other areas of our ministry.
- Praying for you and your church.
