Events Volunteer

Are you known for your friendliness and your ability to strike up conversation? Are you the first to make people welcome and the last person to leave when there's tidying up to be done? Can you give a weekend or a week to serve with the Open Doors in practical ways?

You may be just what we're looking for...

We rely on teams of volunteers at events like Big Church Day Out and New Wine to promote the ministry of Open Doors and inspire the prayer support of tomorrow.

You are...

  • full of energy and enthusiasm and enjoy working as part of a busy team
  • friendly, approachable and have the confidence to introduce Open Doors to a prospective supporter
  • always ready to serve and willing to muck in and get the job done
  • happy to follow instructions and work towards a common goal
  • inspired by the testimonies of persecuted Christians and keen share their stories on their behalf

You may even have some experience in hospitality, catering, exhibitions or public speaking.

You will be...

  • at the cutting edge of encouraging new people to pray for persecuted Christians in an exhibition area or Open Doors cafe.
  • enjoying team camaraderie as you work together in setting up, running and packing up the event equipment
  • engaging potential and existing supporters in conversation and encouraging them to take their next step of support
  • making a big difference to the ministry in a short space of time

"Volunteers are the life blood of any event. They help turn strangers into friends by sharing stories from the persecuted church." - Lynda, Event Coordinator

We will help you by running a pre-event training day and working with you to find the right place for you on the team. We will provide your accommodation for the duration of the event and cover reasonable food and travel expenses. We will value your feedback at the end of the event and keep you updated with future opportunities for volunteering.
