So what can I do?
There are two factors that influence which volunteer role would be best for you: your time available and your individual gifting. Below is a brief description of each role and what's involved.
Most of the roles involve a regular commitment-anything from two hours a month and upwards. However if you would like to volunteer for a specific short amount of time then take a look at the Events volunteer role or the Travel opportunities.

Church Representative
Do you long to see your own church engaging with persecuted Christians? The Church Rep team is made up of over 550 men and women of all ages, each using their gifting to raise awareness and prayer support in their own church fellowship.
The role is very flexible so that it can be tailored to your skills and most importantly your church's diary! Keeping a notice board, showing an Open Doors film, speaking in a church service or house group, encouraging prayer and letter writing, taking on a church project or challenging your youth group are just a few of the activities you can choose from.
Be a messenger and enable your church to bless, and be blessed by, our persecuted brothers and sisters.
Area Representative
We have a team of over 35 Area Representatives who visit churches and small groups to talk about the Persecuted Church and encourage prayer and partnership in the ministry of Open Doors. However between us it is still a challenge to cover all requests from the UK and Ireland and to reach out to new churches who have not heard about the persecution that Christians face.
By joining the team and giving approximately 10 hours per month, you can help raise awareness in your local area. Experience of public speaking is desired and you must hold a driving licence and have use of a car.
Events volunteer
Open Doors also reaches out to the Christian community through events like Spring Harvest, New Wine and other regional events. We need people with a passion for the Persecuted Church to help staff these events, whether engaging people on the stand or helping behind the scenes. Office volunteer (Belfast and Oxfordshire only)
Our offices in Witney and Belfast are the backbone of all our activities in the UK and Ireland and are always a hive of busyness. We regularly rely on over 20 pairs of volunteer hands to help us with a wide range of tasks - packing and parcelling resources; checking and sorting hundreds of letters we receive for persecuted Christians around the world and generally supporting our team of administrators. We couldn't manage without them!
Some volunteers like Katy and Susan have regular slots and others like Bill and Anne are called upon for ongoing mailing tasks where we benefit from their years of dedication and experience. Do you live in the Belfast or Oxfordshire areas and would you be willing to give some of your time to our office activities?
Women to Women
Do you have a particular heart for the women of the Persecuted Church? Our Women's Ministry, Women to Women , is designed to inspire specific prayer and support by understanding the needs and challenges faced by our persecuted sisters. If you run a ladies' group or you would like to increase awareness by networking in your local area, then come and join the team.
Travel opportunities
Ever since Brother Andrew's first visit to meet persecuted Christians back in 1955 the same comment is still heard, "Thank you for coming, now we know we aren't alone or forgotten". Do you have a desire to serve and a love for God's people? Could you go and offer encouragement and prayer in places like Asia, Africa or Latin America?

Youth and student opportunities with underground
Our youth and student team, underground, raises awareness about the millions of Christians who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ and mobilises young people to do something about it. underground challenges young people to choose to live for Jesus and be a generation that takes faith and church seriously.
Whether you attend a youth group, university CU or are involved in working with young people, visit our youth and student websites to find out how you can get involved.
