The volunteer journey
When you apply to be a volunteer, one of the team will be in touch with you to provide any additional information, and where appropriate, full application forms. Most of all, we want to explore with you the best way for you to be part of Open Doors' ministry. Ultimately we want to follow God’s leading for you in your life right now.
If you were appointed as a volunteer you would receive appropriate training for that role, either through face-to-face contact, phone conversations or training material. We will show you the ropes of the volunteer role and also how to get there!
As a volunteer you will be supported by a designated point of contact in the office (Sarah for Church and Area Reps, Kym-Marie for events etc) and also by your Regional Manager . We’re eager to build up local teams of volunteers including all the key roles, so be prepared to get-together, share ideas and work as a team.
For roles such as Church Representative or Area Representative you will also receive regular updates on resources and campaigns to inspire and equip you.
We endeavour to make this a dynamic experience for you, tailored to your growth and gifting. Our volunteers frequently progress through the roles (a Church Rep may go on a ministry trip and then be inspired to become an Area Rep) and you will have the flexibility to vary how much time you can offer.
We also recognise that personal circumstances change too, and sometimes you need to be released on to new paths of serving God.
In true partnership, we want to hear suggestions from our volunteers to help shape future opportunities.
Come be part of the team and see what happens!
