The Catholic Church is by far the largest group here. In the early years of Castro and Communism there was strict control on Church activities and repression of religious freedom.

Since 1990, pressure has lessened and the 1992 constitution declared discrimination against Christians illegal.

Periodic harassment of Christians continues however. It is almost impossible to register churches and obtain building permits.

There are about 900 legal and 15,000 illegal house churches.

• Pray for Fidel Castro and his government, a new openness to Christian truth
• Pray for the children who have extra-curricular school activities deliberately scheduled on Sunday mornings to keep them from Sunday School
• Ask God to give pastors and church leaders His words when they are being interrogated.
