This is a crucial time for a nation that elected a Muslim president in April 2007.

Twelve northern states, where Muslims are a majority, have imposed Islamic law in the past six years.

Outbreaks of violence have claimed many lives and dozens of churches have been destroyed.

In 2006 Christians were attacked, some killed; churches were burned down, homes and shops destroyed, creating many displaced people and increasing the physical and geographical separation between Christians and Muslims.

• Pray for the Nigerian church in the northern states to continue to reach out with the Gospel and the love of Christ under continued difficult circumstances
• Pray for Christians who have suffered in the recent violent attacks – that God would heal them, enable them to forgive and provide for all of their needs
• Pray for the authorities to act with peace and justice.
