Following the peace settlement that ended decades of civil war, North and South now have separate constitutions.

There is significantly less religious freedom in the North, where Islamic law is applied to all.

The government promotes free Islamic education with the aim of encouraging children and parents to follow Islam.

Christians in the north find it difficult to get permission for an official place of worship.

• Pray that peace will be maintained, and that the government will implement greater religious freedom for Christians as promised in the peace agreement
• Pray for Muslim-background believers who need discipling and encouraging
• Pray for renewal, forgiveness, reconciliation and commitment to the Lord for the Sudanese Church.
