In 2019, Hajaratu from Nigeria lost her husband to an illness, leaving her to care for their five children on her own.
Now she is trying to come to grips with another tragic loss whilst continuing to keep the rest of her family safe and fed.
While fleeing an attack by Fulani militants in July 2020, she tried to cross a fast-moving river with her young daughter strapped to her back. After being submerged in water and led astray by the dangerous current, Hajaratu reached the riverbank to discover she was alone.
“I began to cry uncontrollably,” she shares.
For Hajaratu, it is yet more unthinkable grief. Alongside this are the understandable questions and doubts: Why has this happened? But she is holding on to Jesus, still praising Him and clinging on to the hope He gives.
You can give comfort and strength to Hajaratu by sending her a message, reminding her that in her grief and responsibilities towards her children, she is not alone.
Dear Hajaratu. Thank you for sharing your testimony with us. It blessed me deeply. I am praying for you and your family regularly.
