What to Take

Briefing Days

Briefing days are an invaluable way to inspire and equip you for your trip. You will be given details on the context and background of your trip, as well as information on staying healthy and safe, and you will have the opportunity to meet with others who will be joining you on your trip, which is often the beginning of lasting friendships. Importantly, we will also spend some time focusing on God and preparing spiritually. We encourage you to attend this briefing two months ahead of your trip.

Briefing day dates 2017
All Briefing Days run from 10.30am to 3pm.

Dates to be confirmed.

'To do' List

Download this handy list of key tasks that you need to do in order to prepare for your trip – it includes when each task needs to be done by. Please read through this list carefully to ensure that you get everything done on time!

We will provide you with all the forms that you need to complete and return to us. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Flights, Visas and Passports

Flights & visas
Open Doors will book your flights and submit your visa application for you. We work with a company who specialise in travel for charities – they do charge a small fee, but we have found it more cost effective to use them.

Insurance
Open Doors will arrange your travel insurance through our travel insurance company. We take out specialist, comprehensive insurance that covers a range of scenarios that other insurers do not cover.

Passport requirements
Please ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months after your return, has two blank pages and is machine readable.

If your passport doesn’t match these criteria, apply for a new passport immediately and let us know that you are doing so. Once you’ve got your new passport, inform us of your passport number.

We recommend that you scan your passport and email a copy of it to yourself, in case you need to access this whilst overseas (e.g. if your passport is lost or stolen during your trip).

See the government website for more information on passports.
