News of the release of Pastor Oqbamichael Teklaheimanot, a long-time prisoner in Eritrea, has caused joy in the country.

Rev. Ogbamichael was the senior pastor of the Kale Hiwot Church, and was arrested for participating in a Protestant wedding ceremony in Barentu on 9 January 2005 and imprisoned in Asmara Police Station No. 5. He was subjected to 10 months of solitary confinement and hard labour at Sawa military camp as punishment.

He was released in 2007, but six months later he was re-arrested after a fleeing church member who was being monitored called his phone. He was later moved to the notorious Mitire Camp.

Please pray

  • Thank the Lord with us for Ogbamichael's release.
  • Pray for the Lord's hand upon his as he recovers from his imprisonment.
