Pray for Fatemeh: Iranian Christian starts prison sentence

Please pray for our sister Fatemeh, who has now started her one-year sentence in the infamous prison of Evin, Iran

4 September 2019

Please pray for our sister Fatemeh, who has now started her one-year sentence in the infamous prison of Evin, Iran. She has refused to recant her Christian faith.

Fatemeh’s co-defendant, Saheb Fadaie, was sentenced to eighteen months’ imprisonment and two years’ exile in Hamedan for 'action against national security through collusion and gathering'. However, he is already serving a ten-year prison sentence for 'establishing a house church' and 'promoting Zionist Christianity'.

Friends of Fatemeh report that she was not afraid as she went to prison on Saturday. They have requested that prayer:

  • That the Lord will strengthen and encourage Fatemeh with His presence and also be with her husband and encourage him
  • That God will also encourage Saheb, as well as all the other Christian prisoners serving sentences in Evin Prison
  • That the Iranian authorities will stop persecuting religious minorities and respect freedom of religion as an obligation under international law.
