Three Christians have been killed in Wajir, north eastern Kenya by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.

The militants attacked Qarsa Primary School killing two teachers, Kevin Shari and Seth Oluoch Odada; they also killed Seth’s wife, Caroline. Seth and Caroline Odada were newlyweds.

Seth was decapitated, while Carol and Kevin were shot in the head. One Muslim man suffered a bullet wound to the hand as he tried to protect the Christian teachers.

Wajir Administration Police commandant, Mohamed Sheikh said that the group also set an improvised explosive device (IED) on the route to the school. The IED hit one of the security vehicles that was responding to the attack but no officers were injured.

Al-Shabaab is based in neighbouring Somalia, but the militants frequently carry out attacks over the border in the north-east and coastal areas of Kenya. Many Christians from these areas have fled to other places.

Please pray

  • For comfort to affected families
  • For swift action by authorities
  • For protection for Christian teachers who are often targeted because they work in Muslim areas
