'Give us Peace' - an Easter Prayer from Nigeria

In this special Easter prayer, Aisha and Esther from Nigeria help us to remember the millions of persecuted Christians around the world who need protection at this time. They also remind us that Christ's 'death and resurrection from the dead has given us victory'. This Easter, please pray and remember Christians all around the world who are celebrating the victory of love and life over the forces of death and darkness.

“Give us peace at this time of Easter.”

That’s the prayer of Aisha from Nigeria. It’s a prayer which is echoed by millions of persecuted Christians around the world.

Because Easter is not only a time of joy and celebration, it's also a time when many Christians are vulnerable to attack. As Christians gather together to celebrate, their enemies see Easter as the ideal time to attack. In previous years, we have seen bomb blasts in Pakistan and Egypt, gun attacks in Nigeria and Kenya . So please pray for protection. In the words of Esther in the video (above), "Whatever the evil ones have planned, look down on your children with mercy."

But this is not only a prayer for protection, it's also a prayer of victory.

"Jesus died for our sins, prays Aisha. "His death and resurrection from the dead has given us victory."

If you have space in your services this Easter, feel free to show this film, join in with the prayer and remember Christians all around the world who are celebrating the victory of love and life over the forces of death and darkness.
