A state of emergency is still in place after civil war between the military and Islamists.

In 2006 a new law banned efforts to convert Muslims to another religion and giving the government the right to regulate every aspect of Christian practice.

There were also reports that many people were becoming Christians, which may explain the extra restrictions on the Church.

The Minister of Religious Affairs has called the evangelical Church "dangerous".

• It is very hard for those who become Christians in this society. Pray for them, and all who offer them support, encouragement and discipleship training
• Pray that the government will reconsider its efforts to restrict the freedoms of the Church
• Pray that Bibles and other Christian literature will impact Christians and non-Christians alike.
