The UK Government is responding, will you add your voice?
Since April, supporters across the country have been asking MPs to ensure persecuted Christians around the world are not overlooked. Here are the responses:
The Government has confirmed that the latest Human Rights and Democracy report will be published later this year.
The Minister for Human Rights also recognised both the persecution of Christians worldwide and that women and girls in Afghanistan can face heightened and overlapping risks of persecution or violence where religious discrimination intersects with gender inequality.
This is significant progress, praise God.
But there is still more to do!
The Government has not yet committed to including Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) in the upcoming report. That means persecuted Christians, like Elias and his family (pictured) could still be overlooked.
Can you help change that?
Please write to your MP and ask them to urge the Government to:
- Include FoRB in the upcoming Human Rights and Democracy Report.
- Highlight the persecution of Christians in conflict-affected countries such as Syria.
- Ensure protecting FoRB remains central to UK human rights policy.
Why this matters
The UK Government’s Human Rights and Democracy Report is a key tool for highlighting abuses and promoting accountability. However, the report has not been published since 2023.
The report helps to hold the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) to account by showing actions it is taking on human rights globally, and where it is prioritising efforts. Previous reports outlined efforts to support FoRB, including for persecuted Christians.
By advocating for the inclusion of FoRB in this report, and in UK human rights reporting more broadly, we recognise specific vulnerabilities and help protect the lives, dignity and freedoms of persecuted Christians globally.
Engage

Go a step further
We are looking for Christians to become local representatives of the persecuted church to their MP, speaking up on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves. How amazing it would be to have an Advocacy Rep in every constituency in UK & Ireland, encouraging every MP to take real action in the corridors of power on behalf of our brothers and sisters who share our faith but not our freedom. If this vision excites you, then we would love to hear from you!
