National Week of Prayer: join in praying

Join us in praying for countries on the World Watch List in a five-day prayer journey during the National Week of Prayer.

Day 5: Algeria and Ukraine

Day 4: Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan

Day 3: China and Vietnam

Day 2: India and Pakistan

Day 1: Nigeria

Prayer is fundamental to everything that Open Doors does – we know how crucial it is to the ministry, and our persecuted church family always reaffirm the centrality of prayer. “When someone prays for me, they’re like my partners in this job; I am not alone,” says Sang in Vietnam. “I believe that the one who prays for me has the same vision as me.”

In association with the National Week of Prayer, we are launching a five-day prayer journey for global freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) for people of all faiths or none.

We have been inspired by the UK Government’s renewed commitment to FoRB through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s FoRB strategy. It is a reminder that policy matters – but so does prayer. Our unified voices lifted in faith can shape hearts, communities, and even nations.

The FCDO has identified 10 priority countries under their FoRB strategy. Each day, during 8-12 September, join us to pray for different priority countries, for everyone who is persecuted for their faith or belief and for those in authority.

On each day, Henrietta Blyth (CEO, Open Doors UK & Ireland) will share audio prayers for a different individual or group of countries, which also appear on the World Watch List. You’re invited to come back each day and join those prayers – and if you would like to be alerted when the new audio prayers are live, you can join the Advocacy mailing list.
