Debt of gratitude

Millions of women and girls were equipped and empowered through initiatives like See Change.
In bringing the women’s campaign to you last spring, we introduced you to Jorina from Bangladesh, whose story highlighted the deep shame many of our sisters endure for their faith.
“I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me.”
Dema, Bhutan
Dema* from Bhutan has faced a similar experience. She gave her life to Jesus after seeing God heal her children from frequent illnesses, but it brought rejection from her community and her own husband. “He drove my children and me outside and locked the doors of the house,” she recalls.
Dema took on small jobs, but her children often still went without food and even shoes for school. “They would often ask me why we struggle so much, and it was almost impossible to explain the price of faith to my little kids,” Dema says.
“I remember being very depressed one day, as it was very cold and we did not even have a single blanket. I cried out to God, questioning his love. Miraculously, a few minutes later, a relative appeared with a big, warm blanket at my doorstep. From that day onwards, my faith grew stronger.”
Her faith has since grown even stronger because of your support, enabling her to open a little shop and, like the many other women you’ve helped, empowering her to reach her God-given potential. “I have already paid back many of my debts. You even helped with food for my family and paid my daughter’s school fees. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me.”
