Please pray: over 20 Christians in DRC killed in recent attacks
The church in the DRC needs your prayers in the aftermath of several brutal attacks in the North Kivu province.

More than 20 believers have been killed in further devastating attacks in DRC.
The most recent assaults on Christian communities took place between 13 and 15 November. On 13 November, three believers were killed in an area close to Mayba by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). Days later, the extremist group launched an attack on a majority Christian community in Byambwe, taking the lives of at least 18 people.
Health centre destroyed
The victims of the second attack were largely patients of a Christian health centre, with many women and young children amongst those killed. Two others were found burnt alive in their homes. The ADF also set fire to the health centre, causing extensive damage and unspeakable trauma to those left behind.
“It is truly sad. Pray for us.”
Pastor Maliro
“When they arrived at the Catholic Church health centre, they took the sick and those caring for them out of their beds and killed them with machetes. In the maternity ward, the children were left without their mothers,” says Pastor Maliro. “It is truly sad. Pray for us. They left the health centre, killing all the Christian patients and taking the nurses who were on duty with them.”
The attackers also looted the buildings of their valuables and kidnapped a presently unknown number of victims.
Communities displaced
The aftermath of the attacks in the community was haunting for those who did not fall victim to the assaults.
“The road was quiet and very scary. The service on Sunday, 16 November 2025, did not see half of its usual congregation. It is a church of at least 450 Christians, but this Sunday we had communion with 150 Christians.”
On average, there have been at least 12 recorded attacks per month against Christians by the ADF since August. A similar attack at the end of October in Gwado, near the town of Manguredjipa, saw the deaths of eight Christians and the destruction of their homes.
The unrestrained terror is causing a ripple effect of panic amongst believers, and many have fled the area in search of safer dwellings. With 16.2 million Christians displaced across sub-Saharan Africa already, these victims remain vulnerable to further attacks.
“We are counting on divine intervention.”
Pastor Samaki
“School children and students have stayed home, and schools are closed. We are counting on divine intervention,” Pastor Mbula Samaki of a church in Manguredjipa told Open Doors local partners.
Stand with them
“Repeated attacks against Christians are affecting their faith and disrupting school activities. We ask our brothers and sisters to pray for the safety and strengthening of Christians,” asks Pastor Maliro.
Please continue to pray for our family in the DRC and across Africa. Your support is essential to help them stand firm amidst persecution.
- For comfort for Christians who have lost loved ones in the attacks
- That God would protect his children against insecurity and extremist violence
- That the Lord would transform the hearts of the attackers for His glory.
