Serving Persecuted Christians Worldwide - Marathon des Sables - Open Doors UK & Ireland

Marathon Des Sables

We are delighted to update and let you know that Open Doors Supporter, Jonathan Bryson took part in and completed the Marathon Des Sables.

This is the toughest footrace in the world: six marathons in six days in the Moroccan Sahara. Temperatures reached 55 degrees centigrade!

Jonathan took on this immense challenge to raise awareness and support for persecuted Christians across the world.

Following his challenge Jonathan sent us the following message:

'Without a shadow of a doubt, the camaraderie and support of the tent mates as well as messages of support and love from home were the fuel that sustained me - it gave me some sense of how KEY it is that our brothers and sisters all over the world know and feel that we are standing with them in the midst of their darkest hours - it is imperative that we stand on the highest of rooftops and yell our support for the persecuted church, how else are we to overcome such an evil other than living out the true reality of what it means to be the Body of Christ. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and mourn with those who mourn.

But for a slight limp, I have emerged unscathed through the other side - but will unceasingly remember the plight of my family across the seas who's daily reality far outweighs the struggle of a mere jog through the world's toughest terrain.'

So far Jonathan has raised over £9,000 and it is not too late to give to Jonathan’s efforts to help him meet his target of £10,000. Please go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/JBdoesdesSables.

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
